Abstract

Although electrochemical science has had a long tradition in Serbia, this year Belgrade was for the first time chosen to be a host of the Annual Meeting of the International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE). The formal decision of hosting the 71st ISE Annual Meeting was made by ISE Executive Committee in 2015, upon our proposal in 2013. The main theme of the meeting was "Electrochemistry towards Excellence" and it was planned to be held from Monday 31 August to Friday 4 September 2020. The Sava Centar was chosen as the Venue point, 22 different symposia have been proposed and defined within the meeting, covering quite a broad number of topics, 6 plenary lecturers accepted our invitations, 2 tutorials and one workshop were determined. An opening ceremony comprising the choir and folk dances was agreed on, more than 10 excursions planned, banquet dinner as well. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and global circumstances in 2020 the 71st ISE Annual Meeting took place as a virtual one, called "Belgrade Online", being the first ever ISE online meeting.
